Plant of the Month
Crinum lily is a southern favorite in the garden. It is known for their impressive fragrant blooms and their ability to thrive in the most unfavorable of growing conditions. They do prefer soil that drains well and has been amended with organic matter. Crinum bulbispermum is the most prolific and abundant species in the South. It has strap-like foliage and blooms that range from white to pink and white with dark pink accents. These are large bulbs - up to baseball or softball size. They prefer to be planted deep in a full sun or partial shade location. Common varieties for our area are 'Bradley', 'Ellen Bosanquet', 'Summer Nocturne', and 'Milk & Wine'.
